Love this “Talk to the pear if you think I’m blowing that out of proportion.”

Oooh my goodness. These reflections on pruning vs letting things grow, and the connections to queer identity and entering midlife, resonate deeply.

I wrote a bit about this last year when thinking about what to grow in the first place and what to let go, vis a vis family etc:

I’m in the northeast though, so this mostly grew out of just sitting around flipping through seed catalogs at this time of year (while nursing my zone envy for the PNW). This makes me excited to get out and get after it.

On a different topic, I saw today that the DA is not going to bring charges against the girls who beat up Nex. It makes me so angry and sad. They are certainly guilty of something.

I've seen similar coverage about cause of death and a lot of other things that I think obscure the truth of what happened to that amazing kid. It breaks my heart. Nex and others like him deserve so much better.

Personally, I think those girls were lying to cover their own asses. If nothing else, they contributed to Nex's death. That's something they will have to live with the rest of their lives.

I broke my guillotine trimmer and now I'm sad. The trees might be less so.

Just the name of that tool is frightening. I'm siding with your trees here.

It is what it sounds like, but it's great for pulling out dead branches since it's on a telescopic pole.
