My wife pointed out several months ago that while she never laughs at my terrible dad jokes (my dad is a expert and so I trained under a great), I always laugh at them for myself. And that she thinks that's great. She loves that I am entertained by my own extremely silly word-play or painfully forced puns and I never feel self-conscious about being the only one laughing.
anyway, it's neat to know this kind of confidence in telling bad jokes is scientifically proven to be beneficial and it checks out. Because my dad was so unabashedly fine with telling terrible jokes to me, I have grown into an adult who does not at all mind if I'm the only one laughing at my own jokes.
I love how you were willing to step out and make everyone else feel less awkward. A skillful and generous move. Great story!
That completely made me smile!
👏😄❤️

I bet your jokes really are funny and your wife is laughing on the inside. ;)
