😢 Robin, my fervent hope is that there will come a day when nobody has to fear their identity being stolen or invalidated by anyone, especially the government of the country they reside in. Thank you for sharing this with us. It touched me deeply and I hope it will move others in the very same way.
I do. If it helps you can write about why writing about it is hard. On substack, as in so many other places, I feel like what is most productive in helping me understand things is being present and paying attention to what other people have to say about their lived experiences and support them in doing that. You have to take care of yourself in every way so that you can do the best job of sharing. So when you can write the hard things, I'll listen.
All that you're not writing is a hot political potato, I hope it isn't destroyed by people who doesn't understand. I'm no transgender, I try to understand and support those beautiful persons with this wish in them to live a life where everything fits together.
I totally understand why you don't often write about the hard things. I appreciate your perspective, kindness, humor, and creativity, regardless of what you choose to post. ❤️
Oh Robin! This has left me speechless. Thank you for writing and thank you for sharing it with the world. Thank you for your vulnerability. Thank you, Robin! Just thank you 💛
People seem to be scared of what they don't understand. I really don't like it and don't understand it. I hope that everyone wakes up soon. I just found a artists friends post that I wanted to share with you. Check it out at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9Zaa_4Q-to One person at a time seems to be opening their eyes!
Oh Angela, that video is priceless. How incredible to share so much! One person at a time is the pace many of us move at, and it seems to be working in some places.
That's what I thought too! It was so brave of her. Some people in the artworld can be VERY understanding but others not so much so it was outstanding to see her speak up like that! I can't even tell you how many people I learned the truth about but others like Nicci actually truly are amazingly understanding! I've honestly wondered about ALOT of people who I've worked with. That's why I haven't really gotten too close with Nicci but I have followed her work for a long time. I don't wonder about talent but as far as judgement goes, you can't help but wonder if you are a part of the LGBTQ+ community. I'll never wonder about Nicci again and had to share it. I"m so glad that you liked it.
I wish more folks realized how much we pay attention to all of the little cues (or the lack of them) in their words and actions, forever searching for "will they reject me or those I care about." And, unfortunately, in the art world even having a rainbow on your site or your name might just mean you really like rainbows.
Exactly! I found that out the hard way in some cases. You are sooo right. That’s why I’m so cautious. I wish that I always knew that…I can’t help doing what I love though. I don’t know if it’s from growing up in the arts or what but I do know art is a huge part of my heart that I can’t let go of.
It’s maddening. I hope you write about whatever comes up, sometimes the garden, sometimes the primal scream. The kids need to be safe to grow up. Come on, world. Do better.

Thanks. This is a hard time for a lot of us, and all of our reasons are good ones.
Please write about the hard things
Yeah, I’m trying. But some days it is really hard to do. I know you get it.

You are a fucking awesome human.
I think you're a.fucking awesome human being too, no hyperbole even!
I don't even know what to say to this, Robin, except that I'm glad you wrote it, and I'm glad you're here. 💚
That’s everything I needed to hear, LC. I’m glad you’re here, too.
This can’t be easy for you to write. It isn’t easy to read. But it’s so so important. Thank you for your presence and for allowing us in.
Thank you, Wendy. I’m glad you’re here with me.

Thanks, Henrik. I think it’s a very human desire in all of us to live a life that fits us.
Sure, and so it should be!
There are not words -- thank you for what you write when the world is burning
Thanks, Jan.
Whoa. Robin. Thank you.
I totally understand why you don't often write about the hard things. I appreciate your perspective, kindness, humor, and creativity, regardless of what you choose to post. ❤️
That's so kind of you, Grant. Thank you.
Heartbreaking. But thank you for writing it.
May I humbly offer you my thoughts of love and support 💖
Thank you, Diane.
Such a tragedy for these young people to be murdered simply because they are a little bit different.
Kids shouldn't be murder victims.
Tough to write, hard to read, not hard to understand unless you have no heart. Many thanks
Thanks, Kay-El. I see some good hearts here.
Wow. That was powerful.
Oh Robin! This has left me speechless. Thank you for writing and thank you for sharing it with the world. Thank you for your vulnerability. Thank you, Robin! Just thank you 💛
Asmita, I always light up when you walk in the room with me. I'm so glad you're here, friend.
Always right next to you, my friend!

Yeah, that part. Exactly.
