Why do you need a trans friend?

Because it’s so much harder to hate someone when they have a name and a face and they make you laugh. And I have all of those things. I’m funny and charming, I tell great stories, I might even get you to tear up once in a while. And while you’re busy seeing me as a human, you’ll start to see others as more human, too.

Already got a trans/queer friend? Well then, don’t you want another?

Are you a trans or queer identified person or ally looking for kinship? I’m so glad you’re here! In sharing my stories I hope to inspire you to share your own. The world needs more of us, more of our creativity, more of our passion, and more inclusive community.

My name is Robin Taylor, and I’m a middle-aged transmasculine third gender guy who’s lived more of his life on the west coast than anywhere else. My pronouns are he/him/his, I’m happily married for more years than I can believe are possible, and my two young kids call me Papi. I’ve got a bizarrely diverse background in bicycles, public transportation, food systems, agricultural economics, environmentalism, growing some amazing onions, and tearing up walls in houses without having plans to fix them.

Above all other things, I am a storyteller. Every week I’ll be publishing at least one story covering things like raising a family as a trans parent, the culture of masculinity, balancing work with a personal life, or growing up queer.

Creating an Anthology

TransFriend is creating an anthology of writing by family members, friends, parents of trans kids, and by trans kids themselves who have stories to tell. Share you story, stay updated on news, and spread word about this project by visiting the For Trans Families, With Love page.
