Welcome to TransFriend, a weekly publication and community centered around normalizing trans and queer stories. What’s this place all about? Read up on how Substack Is Queer, learn How I Started my Substack with Zero Subscribers, or find a place to feel Rooted.
TransFriend is currently creating an anthology of writing by family members, friends, parents of trans kids, and by trans kids themselves who have stories to tell. For more information, visit For Trans Families, With Love where you can watch this project grow.
I’m going to level with you. Today I am simply too tired and overwhelmed to write much here. And so, instead, I’ll give you a glimpse into the past week of travels and vacation time. Next week will be there for all of us to get back to the business of writing.
There is nothing in the world to make you feel young like old geological places. I first saw Crater Lake when I was 8 or 10, and every visit feels just as magical as my first time there.
I did not expect to climb into and explore a series of lava tube caves, but if you happen to be anywhere near Lava Beds National Monument, do yourself the favor of taking a day to visit. Please note that there is almost nothing accessible about Lava Beds, and it’s quite the physical workout to climb through even the simplest caves in the park.
Speaking of grand, seeing the California Redwoods always reminds me how small I am.
And there is nothing quite like a sunset over a Pacific Ocean beach.
Your (slightly exhausted) trans friend,
Robin
Through this post, we took a break with you. Thank you 🙏🏻
Lovely photos.
